Peter has more than twenty years senior consulting and executive experience in market research and strategy development, and corporate / industrial business planning.
He is internationally recognized for expert evaluation of current market trends and positioning, and assessing new market and product potential for clients. His executive experience includes service as Vice President Corporate Development for the North American operations of a leading international wood products manufacturer, as well as senior marketing experience in the financial services sector.
Past projects have included work with clients in various government and public / development initiatives, post-secondary education institutions and related technology transfer activities, manufacturing, industrial products distribution, information technology and communications, business-to-business services. His experience also encompasses extensive community involvement, through which he has used his professional research, facilitation, communications and leadership skills to effect positive change in development projects and neighbourhood activities.

Experience/Selected Projects
Forests - Bio-Resources - Bio-Fuels
- Led the team that has developed a biomass-based strategy for regeneration of an idled pulp mill in Smooth Rock Falls, ON on behalf of that town’s Community Development Corporation. For the same client has led the feasibility assessment of an opportunity to develop a cellulose-based ethanol production facility in the town.
- Led development of a strategic business case to support establishment of a bio-products refinery in Eastern Ontario, and continues to provide consulting support to the Eastern Ontario Model Forest on this project.
- Led a project to develop a comprehensive feasibility assessment and strategic development plan for a wood products manufacturing sector in Labrador, for the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources.
- Led the Halifax Global team that has developed a comprehensive forest sector strategy for the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources.
- Led development of a comprehensive value-added products and market development strategy and related profitability analysis for a primary softwood products manufacturer. Provided planning and development support to the Labrador Innu Nation for proposal to develop a wood products manufacturing venture.
- Developed a forest sector competitiveness analysis and provided related development strategy counsel and advice for the Nova Scotia Department of Economic Development.
Technology – Innovation
- Co-led and executed Halifax Global’s successful development of a community innovation strategy for Enterprise Fredericton and the Greater Fredericton Region.
- Providing strategic planning support and counsel to a bio-sciences innovation development park and incubator for a comprehensive research university.
- Co-led the Halifax Global team that developed the biotechnology sector asset inventory and map for BioNova, the Biotechnology and Life Sciences Industry Association in Nova Scotia.
Post-Secondary Education
- Led and executed successful development of a strategic business plan for the Canadian Rivers Institute at the University of New Brunswick and co-led a similar strategic business planning engagement for the University’s College of Extended Learning.
- Led the multi-stakeholder consultation process for Halifax Global’s very successful strategic business planning initiative for a proposed new environment-focused building and related program at Acadia University.
- Led development of the strategic business planning component of a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder planning engagement to support development of a plan for a new innovation and design centre proposed by NSCAD University.

- Significant involvement in industrial, resource and technology sectors, specifically in situation analysis and identification and evaluation of strategic growth development opportunities; as well as market / business feasibility analysis for new products.
- Extensive experience in the direction, management and execution of comprehensive, short-term and multi-year, multi-contractor projects, including development of requests for proposals, project terms of reference, and terms of engagement for such projects.
