September 2006
Halifax Global Partner Peter Milley was a featured speaker at the pre-conference ‘Incubation Boot Camp” held in conjunction with the 15th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Business Incubation, held in Halifax September 24 – 26, 2006.
Mr. Milley’s presentation focused on developing effective and successful strategic plans for business incubator facilities. Drawing on experiences from successful Halifax Global planning projects for Acadia University, Nova Scotia College of Art & Design University, and Enterprise Fredericton – each of which incorporated planned business incubator facilities – Mr. Milley explained how extensive consultation in complex stakeholder environments is the foundation of Halifax Global’s approach to strategic planning.
Other themes examined during the presentation included:
- the importance of research and analysis as the key foundation elements in the development of workable strategies that will meet stakeholder expectations; and,
- the need for alignment between strategies and operations and people – Halifax Global’s Three Spheres of Performance© -- to ensure that organizational capacities and people-related skills and capabilities are sufficient to support effective operation of the incubator.
