Comprehensive Forest Sector Strategy
Halifax Global is very pleased to have been selected by the Department of Natural Resources of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to undertake a study to examine forest industry competitiveness and to recommend a forest sector strategy for the island portion of the Province.
The project involves examination of a comprehensive set of issues relating to the future competitiveness of the forest sector in Newfoundland and Labrador, including:
- industry structure and performance benchmarking;
- tenure and allocation policy;
- energy generation;
- product and market opportunities; and
- non-timber and alternate uses of the forest resource.
Additional information about the project is provided in the news release from the Hon. Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Natural Resources which is attached to this announcement. Work on the project began late in the first calendar quarter of 2007 and is expected to be completed by year end or early in 2008.
