About CAFE
In 1983, a group of family business owners formed a network of fellow owners/participants to help one another meet the special challenges faced by family enterprise, through the exchange of present knowledge and past experience. The Canadian Association of Family Enterprise was formally constituted on December 12, 1983, as a federally chartered, not-for-profit association with 15 founding directors. Thanks to the dream, wisdom and commitment of our founders, CAFE has grown to consist 13 Chapters stretching from the coast to coast. For almost 30 years, CAFE has been helping families in business succeed by bringing them together to share experiences. CAFE is where Canadian business families connect with peers and resources for success.

About the Certified Registry of Advisors
CAFE has established a registry of qualified professionals from a variety of disciplines with recognized accreditation and experience working with business families as professional advisors. The Family Business Advisor is privileged to work in an environment involving both family and business issues. As such, The Advisor is often working for the collective benefit of several groups of individuals. A collaborative, inter-disciplinary approach is needed. This is quite different from normal advocacy on behalf of a single client. In particular, respecting and handling privacy issues between parties and even between family members may call for an extra dimension of skill at managing process and communications.
