Mentoring at Challenge NS

On November 22nd, 2019 Halifax Global partner Peter Milley participated as a mentor to student teams competing in Challenge NS -- a 12-hour problem-solving competition that challenges Nova Scotia Community College students, from all disciplines and campuses, to create solutions to a social problem affecting Nova Scotia. This year’s Challenge was introduced through a video message Premier Stephen McNeil and NSCC President Don Bureau -- The Province is aiming to build on the number of high-growth start-ups. In Canada, high-growth enterprises play an important role in employment and account for a large share of job creation. What new supports can the province engage to encourage more Nova Scotians to start their own business and help those businesses unlock their potential and become 'high-growth' businesses?

The teams work through the day to research and develop their response to the challenge in the form of a 90 second video. The first place winning team, from Pictou Campus, received a prize of $2,000. Their winning video can be seen here:
